Fact: Change is inevitable.
But why do we always resist it?
We always fear what is unfamiliar, thinking that it will always bring in something bad.
We just want to settle comfortably in our routines, thinking that’s the way to go in life.
However by doing so, we sometimes find ourselves feeling stuck, unfulfilled and unhappy in our current space.
Here’s the thing: to be able to make the most of this lifetime, we must be brave enough to take risks and continuously grow in harmony with the changes around us and within us, with the least resistance.
And that involves being really mindful about the clues that it’s time for a change which the Universe is giving you.
Yep, instead of resisting, listen and reflect.
You see the value may not be immediately present. But if you allow yourself to go (and grow) with the flow, you will realize how trusting the process and yourself more can lead you to where you’re meant to be in the long run.
And I am not talking about temporary, short time unhappiness e.g. you didn’t like your breakfast, stuck in traffic, didn’t get the blindbox you wanted (haha). I am talking about having that persistent feeling that you go through life each day just because you have to, not because you have joy in your heart. And believe me, that’s one of the hardest feelings to have: to lose that excitement and wonder for what life has in store for you. But think about this: what do you think is making you feel that way? And what needs to change so that you get to make your heart smile once more? Only you would know what’s best for you. Go for it.
2. You constantly want to escape from the now.
Taking frequent vacations. Spending long hours playing computer games. Binge watching on Netflix. And a whole lot more to help you relax and find joy where you are with what you’re doing at the moment. If you find yourself making excuses or distracting yourself with a bunch of activities, then maybe it’s time to pause and ask yourself: what are you escaping from, really? Be honest with yourself because that’s the only way you will be able to face the truth bravely as you find new reasons to change the space you’re in.
3. You have already mastered the skills you need at your level inside and out.
Growth is continuous, so to speak. So when you feel that you’ve reached a plateau already with the level of mastery you have, then maybe it’s time to allow yourself to start all over again as a learner or this time around, maybe as a teacher. Ask yourself this: what role change can I adapt for me to grow even more? Challenging yourself to do (and be) better as you humbly start from scratch can be such a growth-filled experience.
4. You find yourself having more and more what ifs.
Do you find yourself wide awake at night thinking about what could have been? I always believed that regrets stem from the chances we never chose to take. So if you find yourself wishing for things to be different more frequently, then that’s your sign to attend to your what ifs. You have nothing to lose but have more to gain as you give yourself that fighting chance you deserve to at least try, regardless of the results.
5. You see a pattern in things falling apart.
Ever experienced this: you gave it your all, time and again, but things don’t seem to be working out. You lose people. Miss opportunities. Fail along the way. Maybe it’s telling you that it’s time to pivot and welcome change in your life. Giving up on something not working out for you isn’t exactly a bad thing, more so if you’re doing it to keep yourself emotionally well and mentally sane. It’s quite a brave thing to do actually. Couple it with taking responsibility for yourself and your choice there after and you have come up with perhaps one of the best decisions you can make for yourself: to embrace the much needed changes in your life.
After reading this, I hope you always remember that change is neither good or bad.
It’s how we view it that gives it meaning.
And to give true meaning to it, means having to learn and grow from experiencing it firsthand.
Yup, this is your sign to finally embrace change.
